Babyscanning
Reassurance look (for baby)
Tryghedskik is a safety scan and does not replace the public malformation scans.
The scan can be performed throughout the pregnancy.
- 10 minutes are allocated with an experienced sonographer
- From week 10 we can see heartbeats.
- From pregnancy week 12 0 we can listen to your baby's heartbeat
3D/4D scanning
A look at who your baby looks like
Is it mom's nose, dad's mouth – or something else entirely?
With a 3D scan, you get the opportunity to see your baby in a very special way. We work hard to create an image that is as lifelike and vivid as possible, where facial features, facial expressions and small movements clearly stand out.
For many, the experience is both touching and unforgettable – a moment that you carry with you long after.
Practical information about the 3D/4D scan
- The scan is recommended from pregnancy weeks 25 to 33, with the best results around week 28.
- We allocate approximately 20 minutes for the survey, including time for selecting and printing images.
- Along the way, we will talk about how your baby is positioned in the womb.
- If you wish, and it is possible, we can provide the gender of the child.
- You will have the opportunity to hear your baby's heartbeat - and can record it on your own phone if you want to take it home.
- We record short video clips (without sound) as well as 3D images, which you can download digitally via QR code immediately after scanning.
- You will also receive 2 printed 3D color images.
- It is possible to purchase an additional scan for 500 DKK.
What affects the quality of the images?
The quality of a 3D scan depends on several factors. The best result is typically achieved if:
- Baby is facing upwards and there is sufficient amniotic fluid in front of the face.
- The placenta is not lying on the anterior wall of the uterus, as this may affect image sharpness.
- The mother's body type can also affect image quality.
We always do our best to achieve the best possible result and guide you safely through the entire experience.
Up or down?
Which way is baby facing?
An up or down scan gives a clear and quick answer about how your baby is positioned in the uterus.
Position is important information in the latter part of pregnancy and can be important for planning the birth. If there is uncertainty about whether the baby is head down – or if you experience that the fetal movements feel different than before – a scan can provide peace of mind and clarification.
Practical about the up or down scan
- The examination is offered from week 34 0 of pregnancy until birth.
- We determine the baby's current position in the uterus.
- You will also have the opportunity to hear your baby's heartbeat.
The scan is simple, gentle and performed with a focus on safety, presence and clear communication.
Gender scan
For most pregnant women, curiosity arises sooner or later: Who is hiding in the belly?
A gender scan will tell you whether you are expecting a girl or a boy. You will also have the opportunity to see your child on the screen and have confirmation that development is progressing as it should. The scan takes place in a calm environment with plenty of time for questions and explanations.

Frequently Asked Questions
About 3D and 4D scanning
3D and 4D scans allow you to see your baby in more detail than a traditional ultrasound scan. 3D scans show still images in three dimensions, while 4D scans show moving images in real time. This allows facial features, facial expressions and movements to be seen in a more lifelike way, giving many parents a special insight into life in the womb.
The scan is performed in a calm environment, and there is plenty of time for explanation along the way, so the experience is both informative and safe.
Ultrasound safety
Ultrasound uses sound waves and does not involve radiation. The technology is the same as that used in routine scans in the public health system, and the examination is considered safe for both mother and baby when performed correctly.
At Charlottenlund Privathospital, all scans are performed by healthcare professionals and in accordance with current professional recommendations. We always use the lowest possible energy and do not scan for longer than necessary.
If we do not obtain satisfactory images
The quality of 3D and 4D images can be affected by several factors, including the baby's position, the amount of amniotic fluid, the position of the placenta, and the mother's body type. In some cases, it may be difficult to obtain the desired images on the first scan.
If the image quality is not satisfactory, we offer a free rescan at a later date. This way we ensure that you get the best possible experience – at no extra cost.
Important to know
All of our scans are solely intended to create images and provide a visual experience of your child. The examinations are not diagnostic and cannot be used to assess whether your child's development deviates from normal.
If conditions arise that give rise to concern, we always refer you to your doctor, midwife or the public health service, where actual medical assessments are made.
