Do you have a child who is experiencing pain or discomfort in their ear-nose-throat area? Then your child can receive treatment from us.
We not only investigate and treat adults, but we also have extensive experience in treating children with ear, throat, and/or nose problems. As Denmark's leading private ENT hospital, you can confidently choose us to treat your child.
If you have any queries regarding our treatment, service, staff, or other aspects, please feel free to contact us.
We can provide treatment for your child as a private patient, through health insurance or the Free Extended Hospital Choice. Depending on the type of treatment required, we have either no or short waiting times to ensure that your child does not have to endure discomfort or pain for longer than necessary.
Each year, we treat a large number of children with ear-nose-throat issues, including draining the ear to relieve chronic otitis media, surgery for enlarged tonsils and polyps to enhance sleep, and surgery for a tongue tie that is too short to correct breastfeeding difficulties.
Anesthetising and operating on small, older, and large children requires special expertise, which is why only a few private hospitals across the country can offer this service. At Charlottenlund Private Hospital, we have anaesthetists and nurse anaesthetists with many years of experience in anaesthetising both small and large children. Our specialist doctors are also skilled at treating children.
We treat a significant number of children with ENT disorders, which means that we have extensive experience in this particular area. Therefore, you can safely select us as your treatment provider.
Below, you can read more about some of the ear-nose-throat treatments we offer for children. However, this is only a selection, and we also provide specialised treatments if your child is not suffering from a common ENT disorder.
We greet you and your child with care, respect, friendliness, and clear communication. Based on these values, we strive to create a safe and pleasant experience for your child, despite the uncertainty that unfamiliar surroundings, new faces, and pain/discomfort can cause.
Our doctors have treated numerous children in recent years and are adept at engaging with them at their level to make them feel comfortable with the doctor. If your child is old enough to comprehend their illness, our doctors are happy to explain what is wrong in a language that they can understand.
Ear pain can cause restless nights for both the child, parents, and any siblings. In connection with a cold, the Eustachian tube can become blocked, creating negative pressure in the middle ear and causing fluid build-up. It can be painful for the child, but the pain can be alleviated by inserting a tube in the eardrum if the condition does not improve on its own over time. The drain creates a small outlet to the middle ear that must remain in place until it falls out on its own.
Inserting a drain in the eardrum is an operation that we have extensive experience in performing. The operation is brief, and the child recovers quickly.
Some children have such large tonsils that they experience problems at night in the form of disturbed sleep and sleep apnoea (pauses in breathing). As poor sleep can be closely linked to unhappiness, there is good reason to have your child's tonsils examined if he or she sleeps poorly.
If your child has large tonsils, the doctor may consider a partial tonsillectomy, as it is a considerably smaller operation than a total tonsillectomy. This means that the operation can be performed on children as young as two years of age.
Children's adenoids are lymphatic tissue in the nasopharynx, which grows from birth until the age of 5-7. If the adenoids are enlarged, they can contribute to fluid getting into the middle ear. They can also be responsible for the child not being able to breathe properly through the nose, which can lead to snoring, eating problems, and incorrect growth of the facial bones.
Children's adenoids are removed by surgery on children over two years of age.he facial bones.
Children's polyps are removed by surgery on children over two years of age.
In case of pronounced difficulty in breastfeeding, the child should be examined to see if his tongue tie is too short. It can be treated with a very simple procedure.
We have a very short waiting time for the procedure. This is because we know how critical it can be that a child cannot take food. After the operation, you will immediately experience that the child can again be breastfed and thrive.
It can be frustrating to be the parent of a child with pain or discomfort in the ENT area that does not go away on its own, or where traditional treatment such as pain relievers and nasal sprays does not relieve. At Charlottenlund Private Hospital, you and your child will be met with care, professionalism, and a desire to help just you.
