Ear surgery

At Charlottenlund Private Hospital, we offer various types of ear surgery. All interventions are carried out by senior doctors in ear surgery.

Drain in the eardrum (tubulation)

With a cold, the eustachian tube can become blocked, which creates negative pressure in the middle ear and causes fluid to form. It is treated by placing a drain in the eardrum.

Closure of a hole in the eardrum (myringoplasty)

A hole in the tympanic membrane can occur after a strong blow, infection or placement of a drain. The hole is closed by taking a piece of muscle from the masticatory muscle or cartilage from the back of the ear.

Knot in ear canal (exostosis)

A bony protrusion can occur in the ear canal, which can cause problems in the form of infection and accumulation of earwax. The problem is treated by cleaning the ear and surgically removing the knot.

Surgery for bone eaters (cholesteatoma)

Bony eaters is a disease where the skin in the ear canal grows into the middle ear. It accumulates in an already congested area, which can cause hearing loss. The excess skin is removed by surgery.
