How Much Does a Hearing Aid Cost?

A set of hearing aids costs between DKK 14,000 and DKK 22,000 with us after the public subsidy. The price includes two hearing aids, a charger, hearing test, initial examination, fitting, a two-month return period and four years of follow-up. We apply for the public subsidy on your behalf, so you do not have to pay it upfront. The price depends on the technology level, not on the brand you choose.

Why do two different brands cost the same?

Because you pay for the technology level, not the name on the device.

All manufacturers produce the same model in several technology levels. The hardware is often the same; what differs is the level of signal processing. Widex uses 220, 330 and 440. Signia uses 3, 5 and 7. Oticon and Bernafon use their own corresponding numbering systems.

We place each hearing aid in the category specified by the manufacturer. This means you can choose a brand based on how the sound suits you rather than what is written on the price tag.

It also means that you will not find every model with us. If our purchase price does not correspond to the level where a hearing aid belongs, we do not sell it rather than place it in a more expensive category than is appropriate.

How much does a hearing aid cost without subsidy?

The total price is between DKK 21,934 and DKK 31,934 for a set. The prices above are after the public subsidy of DKK 6,934, which we apply for on your behalf. Without subsidy, a set costs between DKK 21,934 and DKK 31,934. This applies, for example, if you have received hearing aids with a public subsidy within the past four years.

All amounts are for two hearing aids, in Danish kroner and including VAT. Oticon Zeal 1 costs DKK 31,934 in total and DKK 25,000 after subsidy.

You do not have to pay the public subsidy upfront yourself. We apply for it, and it has already been deducted from the amount you pay.

When are you not eligible for the subsidy?

Normally, four years must have passed since you last received hearing aids with a public subsidy before you can receive the subsidy again. If less than four years have passed, you pay the full price.

There are exceptions. These include a significant deterioration in hearing caused by a medical condition, if the hearing aid has been lost due to theft or fire, or if physical changes make it impossible to use. If you are unsure, ask us — we know the rules and can help with the application.

To receive the subsidy, you must also have a referral from an ear, nose and throat specialist. You can obtain this referral from us.

Can you receive a subsidy from Health insurance Denmark??

Yes, if you are a member - but the reimbursement is paid directly to you, not to us.

“danmark” reimburses 50% of your own payment, up to a maximum of DKK 1,500 per hearing aid in Groups 1 and 2 and DKK 1,000 per hearing aid in Group 5. This means you can receive up to DKK 3,000 for a set in Groups 1 and 2 and up to DKK 2,000 in Group 5. A maximum limit applies within a 12-month period.

Because the amount is paid directly to you, we cannot deduct it from the invoice. We provide the documentation you need.

What about the supplementary health allowance?

If you are a state pensioner with a health allowance card, your municipality may cover up to 85% of your own payment.

The amount you can receive depends on your personal supplementary allowance percentage, which is calculated based on your assets and income. We help provide the documentation required by the municipality.

What are you covered for?

There are three different types of cover, and each applies to something different.

Right to complain under the Danish Sale of Goods Act

You have a two-year right to complain if a fault appears that was present in the hearing aid from the beginning, such as a material or manufacturing defect. This does not cover accidents. If you drop the hearing aid in the toilet, step on it or it is stolen, this is not considered a defect in the product and is therefore not covered by the Sale of Goods Act.

That is why insurance is included

It covers damage, loss and theft, is included in the price and covers two incidents of damage or loss per hearing aid.

If you use the insurance, you pay an excess of DKK 1,812.50. This applies per incident, regardless of whether one or both hearing aids are affected, and you receive a new hearing aid. This is the only cost that may be added to the price.

How do you find out which category you should choose?

By having a hearing test before you decide.

We talk about the situations where you most often have difficulty hearing and what you would like to be able to hear again. Some people mainly want to follow television programmes and conversations at family dinners. Others attend meetings every day or work in noisy surroundings. These are the differences the categories are designed to cover.

We do not automatically recommend the most expensive option. If you mainly have one-to-one conversations, most people will notice little difference between Advanced and Premium.

And if it turns out that you have chosen the wrong option, you have two months to change your mind.
