Fjernelse af spytkirtler
Charlottenlund Private Hospital offers salivary gland surgery of all salivary glands, i.e. both the sublingual (sublingual) gland, the submandibular (submandibular) gland and the parotid (parotid) gland.
Before you are scheduled for surgery, it is important that the diagnosis is correct and that both a biopsy and a scan are available, so that the surgeon can assess the extent of the surgery before it is agreed upon.
The operations are performed exclusively by permanently attached consultants who work as senior physicians in throat surgery at public hospitals. The operations are not performed through the Extended Free Hospital Choice (DUF) as this does not include salivary gland surgery, but are performed both privately and through health insurance.
We are proud to be able to offer surgeries by some of the most skilled neck surgeons in Denmark.

Briefly about the salivary glands
The largest salivary gland is the Parotid gland, also called the parotid gland. Most people no longer know it, as we now vaccinate against mumps, which is an infection of the parotid gland. The parotid gland produces pure, thin saliva, which is known when the mouth "runs in water". The saliva is transported through the cheek and into the oral cavity in front of the back molars in the upper jaw.
Salivary gland diseases - which ones exist?
The reasons for removing salivary glands are very different. In the parotid gland, a partial removal of the gland is often performed due to benign nodules in the gland, but by far the biggest reason for operating on the maxillary salivary gland is because - in the same way as tartar can form - a salivary stone can form. Some people have a more pronounced tendency to this than others. The formation of stones in the salivary gland's ducts often causes pain in connection with food intake and if the condition cannot be treated with endoscopic surgery, total removal will be considered.
Removal of the lingual salivary gland is primarily due to so-called diver's ranulas, which are rare forms of accumulation of very sticky and slimy saliva in the gland that cannot come out. This can cause an unsightly and bothersome lump under the chin, but is quite harmless.
